Spooktober shots – top 10

The days are getting darker, it has been raining a lot.

Sometimes the rain lasts for days and most people would agree that there is nothing better than having a warm cup of coffee (or tea) and to binge-watch your favourite series on Netflix. But despite of all the cosiness of being home, there are beautiful things going on outside at this time of the year. I love to take pictures on the edge of darkness and to capture the autumn atmosphere, even though some days it does feel like it takes a great effort and I have to drag myself out of my comfort zone… Luckily I managed to go out and take my photo-walks on the neighbourhood. These are October’s favourites shots:

A trip to Lisbon

This photo series is a result of my personal experience as a Brazilian expat living in Europe who visited Portugal for the first time. The pictures here presented invite the viewer to witness what I once witnessed with my own eyes for the first time – or did I? Isn’t it all what we see just a construction, a culmination of all what we’ve seen before?

A certain ambiguity is a common ground that tight these images together. They present a stretch of the reality and they do not aim to describe it or fill in the gap between what is real and what is my perception of it – they rather open up for new possibilities and interpretations that the viewer has the freedom to fill in. In this sense, all photographic work has a potential to be surreal, given that it never presents the facts – it is always a point of view which presents relationships between elements that once were part of the reality.

* This is part of an ongoing project, which I started editing and invited a friend to collaborate. Stay tuned!

Cellphone pictures

One of these days… I was too lazy to carry my camera around the city, but that wasn’t an impediment for me to catch these images.

Sometimes it is not all about having the best gear at hand, but to feel the mood and use the resources you have.
